Hello Melanie

I believe Melanie is the only one who is currently reading this blog, so I am updating it to make her happy :)

Our current status is waiting for Immigration to approve me again. They have failed my fingerprints twice. Now they are requiring that I provide them with a criminal background check for all the states and counties that I have lived in for the last 5 years. Since that is one, it's pretty easy. I'm just waiting for Virginia to return it to me...hopefully it comes out clean. LOL.

My marathons are over for the year but unbelievably, I still have the desire to run. For something very funny, running related, check out the blog I do a little bit better on keeping up-to-date, www.horizonsrunners.blogspot.com.

Blessings,
Karen

Adoption Update

I can't imagine anyone follows this poorly updated blog, but for my own historical purposes, I will post an update to our adoption process.

A couple weeks ago, we had our home study updated and in a few weeks, we'll get fingerprinted for immigration for the 2nd time in the process. Most likely, we will have to do all of this at least one more time before we bring Julia home. China wait times seem to be getting longer by the day, but there are so many variables that it remains impossible to precisely predict. I just saw a prediction of a 30% attrition rate of those who are on the waiting list - that's good news for us and sad news for those who felt led to adopt from China and had gone through a very laborious process to submit their application.

As I posted in January, we remain confident in this being the right direction for us, and we will wait. All things in God's perfect timing.

I continue to train for marathons to pass the time, along with the few other things I have my hands in, like work, church, etc. :)

Update

It's been a while since I've posted, so here's a quick update.

I did run the Marine Corp Marathon back in October. I was hoping that once I completed it, I would never want to run another, but unfortunately, it has only made me want to do it again. At this point I think I'll plan on running the same race again, aiming at a better time. I finished in approx 4:45 which was under my worst case scenario finish of 5:00 but longer than my hope of 4:30. I've thought about running a spring marathon, but it's too hard to find training time during the short, cold days.

The adoption process. Good things come to those who wait, so our girl(s) are going to be REALLY good. :) The people who are being matched with children right now have been waiting a little over 2 years. The wait time has been predicted to go as high as 4 years. (Our wait time started in May '07, so we're not even at a year yet...) There are a lot of variables...number of children made available, people dropping out of the program due to the wait time, the Olympics, etc. We will believe that God has called us to adopt from China, so we will hold fast until Julia and her sister come home, or until God leads us in another direction.

That's the news from the Egyuds for now.

Blessings,
Karen
